A Taste of Fall Recipe: Sparkling Apple-Pomegranate Cider

Prep: 5 minutes • Cook: None
Makes: 4 servings

A bright, alcohol-free drink brings autumn colour to the table and offers another enjoyable way to take in fluid.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 mL) apple cider

  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) 100% pomegranate or cranberry juice

  • 1 cup (250 mL) chilled low-sodium club soda or sparkling water

  • Ice cubes

  • 4 thin apple slices or orange twists, optional garnish

  • Pinch of ground cinnamon, optional

Directions

  1. Pour the apple cider and pomegranate or cranberry juice into a pitcher and stir.

  2. Just before serving, add the sparkling water and ice.

  3. Divide among four glasses and garnish with fruit or cinnamon, if desired.

Tip: For anyone who needs to manage blood glucose, a smaller serving or more sparkling water may be preferred.

Healthy-aging highlight

Fluids can come from water, milk, tea, soup and other drinks. This festive option is diluted with sparkling water; keep plain water within reach throughout the day as well.
