From local gatherings to outdoor adventures, there’s no shortage of ways to fill your calendar. Be sure to check in with your nearby seniors’ associations and community centres to see what’s happening in your area.

Here are just a few ideas to help you get out, meet new people, and enjoy everything this vibrant season has to offer.

  • May 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church (10004–101 St.), Fort Saskatchewan: 10th Annual Caregiver Appreciation Tea – free. This year marks the 10th anniversary of this meaningful community event celebrating caregivers. Join fellow caregivers in a welcoming and supportive environment. The theme for 2026 is Building Resilience Through Connection. This is a non‑denominational celebration open to all caregivers. Light refreshments will be served.   • May 7 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Bowness Seniors’ Centre in Calgary: Facing Seasons of Change or Loss. Join a warm and accessible conversation focusing on loneliness and grief. The conversation will be facilitated by therapists from Your Counselling Ltd and reflect some of the experiences many seniors may be navigating, such as the loss of a loved one or pet, changes after retirement, or feeling more isolated than before. Speaking to the idea of finding meaning, connection, and purpose, even during seasons of change or loss. RSVP by May 4, 2026. Coffee will be provided.

  • May 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at GFLS (Greater Forest Lawn 55+ Society) in Calgary: Mother’s Day Tea ! $25 ticket. Join us for a delightful celebration in honour of Mother’s Day. Enjoy a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the ideal way to spend the day — sipping tea, enjoying beautiful music, and making memories.

  • May 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Hanson Street in Bawlf: Bawlf Show & Shine. Rev up your engines for the annual Village of Bawlf Show & Shine! Registration runs from 9:00–11:00 a.m. for $10 per show vehicle, with the show cruising all day long. Come check out an impressive lineup of classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors — polished, powerful, and ready to turn heads. It’s not just for motorheads. Bring the whole family and enjoy face painting, inflatable fun, a petting zoo, and a local market.   • May 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Scenic Acres Community Association in Calgary: Repair Cafe. Bring electronics, small appliances, jewelry and fabrics that need a tune-up and keep the items out of the landfill. Free event; however, knife-sharpening services have a fee.
