Peripheral Neuropathy Doesn’t Have to Be the End of the Story

By Accessible Acupuncture

After being told his options were limited, Marty found help—and a path back to the life he loved.

If you had asked me a year ago what I thought about acupuncture, I would have told you—honestly—I didn’t believe it could help me.

I’m Marty, and by the time I found Dr. Melanie Morrill, Dr. Ac., I had already been told there wasn’t much that could be done for my peripheral neuropathy. My options seemed to be prescription medications, managing the symptoms, and learning to live with it.

And here she and her team were offering hope.

I was skeptical. After everything I had already been through medically, I wasn’t interested in vague promises or another treatment that sounded too good to be true. I wanted clear information, realistic expectations, and an approach that made sense.

In 2024, I went through one of the most difficult years of my life. I suffered a serious, nearly fatal heart attack. Thankfully, I recovered well enough within seven months to undergo a full hip replacement surgery. It was a long road, but by early 2025, I was finally starting to feel like myself again.

Then, out of nowhere, something new started.

I noticed a strange loss of feeling in the sole of my foot. At first, I didn’t think much of it. But then the same sensation appeared in my other foot. It didn’t go away. In fact, it got worse.

The best way I can describe it is this: it felt like I was walking around in heavy, cold clay sandals all the time. The sensation was constant, uncomfortable, and deeply concerning. On top of that, I had numbness, tingling, and foot pain.

Days turned into weeks. I wasn’t improving—I was getting worse. It clearly wasn’t going away on its own, and I knew I needed to do something fast.

That’s when my wife suggested I look into Accessible Acupuncture. She had come across another patient’s story that sounded remarkably similar to what I was experiencing.

I’ll admit, I was hesitant. Here was a practitioner telling me she may be able to help when I had already been led to believe my only choices were medication and learning to live with the symptoms.

I didn’t want to jump into anything without fully understanding it, especially given everything I had already been through medically. So I decided to gather information and book a consultation.

That first appointment changed my perspective.

What stood out to me immediately was how professional and straightforward the consultation was.

There were no unrealistic promises. No pressure. Just a clear explanation of what might be going on and what options could be considered.

Dr. Melanie Morrill, Dr. Ac., and the team at Accessible Acupuncture assessed my neuropathy and walked me through a personalized treatment plan. She clearly explained what the treatment would involve, how long the process could take, and what kind of results I could realistically expect.

Most importantly, she gave me time to think about it. I didn’t feel rushed into a decision. I went home, did my research, spoke with my doctor, and carefully considered my options.

I decided to move forward with treatment. Looking back now, I’m so glad I did.

As of December 2025, I’ve completed a series of treatments, with more scheduled as part of the plan. Throughout the entire process, I’ve been consistently impressed—not just with the care itself, but with the people.

The staff at Accessible Acupuncture are knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely kind. That matters more than you might think when you’re dealing with a condition that affects your daily life.

But what matters most is this:

I’ve improved significantly. Today, I’m able to walk comfortably again. I’m curling, golfing, and cycling more than ever.

I can go up and down stairs without needing a banister. I’m back at the gym. I can ride a bicycle, do my yard work, handle daily tasks, and live my life the way I did before these symptoms started. I don’t have pain anymore.

There is still a slight tingling in the soles of my feet, but compared to where I was, it is a dramatic improvement.

If you had told me a year ago that I would be saying this about Accessible Acupuncture, I wouldn’t have believed you. But here I am.

I’ve also learned that the treatments were straightforward and noninvasive and, in my case, delivered meaningful results. There are no guarantees. But if you are dealing with neuropathy like I was, I believe it is worth serious, honest consideration.

Don’t wait and hope it goes away on its own. That’s what I did at first, and it only got worse.
